I'm all ready to BEGIN some new blog adventures.  New blog look.  Instagram.  Twitter.  {Click on those buttons to the left!}  ...AND my first link part-ay.  Because every new year should begin with a party.

One Word: New Years "Resolution" Linky-to-be

I've chosen my one word.  It is my favorite way to make a "resolution" for the new year.  I like the simplicity of it.

Last year my word was "possibility".

In that one year, I quit my job, moved half way across the country, started a new job, discovered a new "home", spent time in 10 different states, and met all kinds of new people.  I made a lot of big changes, and embraced the possibility of trying something new.  So far, it's worked out well.

Now that I'm in a new place and everything is so fresh and so clean, clean- including the new year- I'm choosing a new word to focus my energy on.

My word this year is...

I'm choosing this as a daily word to live by- not only to stop procrastination, but also to try something new and embrace new experiences.  Sometimes I need that little extra push to get started... hopefully this is it!

So in light of my begin perspective, I went ahead and started an Instagram and Twitter account linked to the good-ole blog.  I really dragged my feet on this one, a little concerned that it would be a huge time sucker for me, but it keeps coming back to me so I'm going to go ahead and begin another place to leave a Real Teachers Learn digital footprint.  You're invited to follow me if you would like {buttons to the left, to the left}.  I still want to do my sporadic Finally Friday news posts, but will be posting more fun teacher(ish) info via Twitter, so hop on the Teacher Train and join me!

I've never done a linky.  This is new...but I'm going with my begin theme and giving it a try.  So go ahead... grab the graphic, plug in your word, and share with your teacher-blogger-followers...then link up back here in January.

So, I don't know... Join me?  I'd love to see what word you're using to guide you this coming year.

(and I really didn't do this as a plug for my own product, but if you want, you could do this with your students as well...just saying.)

I'm off and running already!  Begin!

Oh, hello there, it's me.

As I was attempting to catch up on my blog reading (ohmygoodness there is no end in sight) I ran across Stephanie's {Falling into First} Meet the Teacher Linky and I was like yesssss.  I have a boatload of blog posts in draft form and nothing finalized and the beginning of the year is almost in full swing and it's 99 degrees today and I have no air conditioning and I have to pick a new health plan asap and my brain is on overload.  All part of why I love my job.  Except the air conditioning part.  I may be spending time in my car later just so that I can cool off.

THEN I was reading Diane's {Fifth in the Middle} meet the teacher post and I was like yesssss.  I, too, am feeling like a first year teacher with eight years of experience because I switched schools and moved halfway across the country....and I totally related to her post.

So that's how I got to this point.  But if you want to know more, here's a little about me...

THESE ARE A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS...

*when you're talking with a friend and realize they totally get you*
*new school supplies*
*teaching & learning*
*laughing*
*being challenged*
*books books books*
*going on adventures and retelling the stories later*

IF YOU WEREN'T A TEACHER, WHAT WOULD YOU WANT TO BE?
I was convinced I would be a child and family psychologist all through high school.  Then someone told me I would probably take my work home with me every day and it would take an emotional toll on me.  So then I became a teacher.  Wait, what?
But I think teaching is the better fit and this is where I'm supposed to be.  So I guess I can thank whoever gave me that weird advice and totally doesn't understand teaching.

THREE LITTLE WORDS THAT DESCRIBE YOU.
happy * dedicated * focused

FINISH THE SENTENCE, "________,  SAID NO TEACHER EVER!!"

"Yes, I'm the one who broke the copier"

Q: IT'S YOUR BIRTHDAY AND YOU CAN INVITE ANYONE {DEAD OR ALIVE} TO THE PARTY. WHO ARE YOU INVITING?

All my family and friends.  They're fantastic.

Q: IF SOMEONE WROTE A BOOK ABOUT YOUR LIFE, WHAT WOULD BE THE TITLE?

Let's do Lunch

Q:YOU GET TO PICK ONE SUPERPOWER. WHAT IS IT?
To help people understand another side of a situation or argument.

Q: WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE QUOTE OR SAYING?

or...

Q: IF YOU HAD TO SING ONE SONG ON AMERICAN IDOL, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

 Hallelujah
...although I'd be terrible.

Q: ARE YOU A MORNING PERSON OR A NIGHT OWL?

Night owl...but since moving to the west coast, I've stayed on central time and I'm just up early in the morning and grumpy about it.  Coffee to the rescue!

Q: WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE RESOURCE THAT YOU'VE CREATED IN YOUR TPT SHOP?

This is so silly, but I think it's my Place Value Bulletin board set!  I love it every year!

Q: SHARE SOMETHING WE MIGHT NOT KNOW ABOUT YOU!

I love Nancy Drew books... I collect vintage editions and will go into complete geek mode if you strike up a conversation about them with me.
